Final Post

This is my final post for the Kyoto Blog, also the last day at the Xplore Centre Today, today we are doing our media presentations

Last Day

The first two periods we did the final touches of the presentation and we are going to be present to all the xplore groups.

1/3/07

deadline is closing in

We have just got enough time to finish the Reasearch task today, two periods is all we have left to work on today. Tomorrow we will not have time to work on our challenges as we will be presenting in the morning and in the afternoon we will have electives.

In the last few minutes of period 2 we just managed to finsh the essay in environmental laws. We just managed five hundred and one words (five hundred words being the minimum).

We ahd a few problems with the multimedia presentation as the Ultranet would not let us send file sizes larger than 10MB, ours was 18MB. So to fix this we will just be giving it in on a USB storage device or something

Ye starting the essay

This period Ye is attempting to finish the five hundred to six hundred word essay in these two day. This friday will be our last day In Xplore. So we only have two days to attempt to finish the Sustainability essay. We also have to put the finishing touches on the multimedia presentations (such as Credits, music etc). it goes for a total of about two minutes.

Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) has been helpful in our Xplore challenge. It has rpovided us with pictures and information.

almost there

From today there will be only two days left to finish our challenge. That leaves the essay (which Ye had barely started) and the research project which we have not even started. Today we also have a double elective. So we only have a total of 4 periods on Xplore.

27/2/07

one period

Last week we only had one period of Xplore. We would have had three periods but we had a incursion. The last three periods we had electives so we wound up with only one period

Suggestions

We're having trouble chossing a song for the background, for our presentation, if anyone has any ideas please post =)

Toolbox 2

We've turned down the offer for another toolbox session this time for rising sea levels, our group feels this is not very important as the last toolbox because we are nearing completion for our research, we've already learnt quite alot from the last one.

Multimedia Presentation

Hey It's Me Brandon, this is my first post.
This afternoon I have been working on the the presentation but it was quite frustating when the time wouldn't go the same. While I was working Abel and someone else have been arguing about some other thing. Oh well See You

Brandon

trouble finding pictures

Today in periods 5 and 6 I attempted to help Brandon find some pics of Greenhouse gases (such as HFC's and Tetrachloraflouride). The trouble was that there were not any pics. And the pics I had found he already had.

my first blog

hello people, this is ye. In period 1-4 i did praticlly nothing, i just helped abel, william and brandon with their work. i was suppossed to do the essay about the goverment laws on sustainability, but what could you write when you have to do 500-600 words. gimme some ideas if you have any.

Adjusting timing

In periods 1 and 2. Bandon (who works on the multimedai presentation) was adjusting the timing of the presentation for the whole 2 periods. I have also added Ye Brandon and Abel to the blog so they can contribute

Ye

Ye's a contributor now

Brandon

Toolbox

Hey it's me Abel putting up the first post....

We had a toolbox lesson yesterday afternoon, about Kyoto Protocol, For 49 minutes we talked about the Kyoto Protocol and what it is all about. We only had 8 people in this session (two groups)

It was all pretty interesting, (for me at least) We talked about cheaper and cleaner energy alternatives, and about Emission Trading. The Kyoto Protocol is an agreement where agreeing countries reduce greenhouse gas emission levels by 5.2% by 2012. This is where Emissions Trading comes in it is a process where countries who cannot reduce greenhouse emissions by 5.2% can buy credits off countries who have reduced extra greenhouse emissions. So that countries who are having a hard time can just buy the reduced emissions off countries who have done extra.

More info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyoto_Protocol (good old wikipedia) =)

Toolbox session on Kyoto

Yesterday we (Abel, Brandon, Ye and me) attended the toolbox session on the Kyoto Protocol.

We learnt a lot, such as Australia's vital dependancy on coal. The protocol actually allows more greenhouse to be produced in Australia while others are attempting to reduce theirs. America and Australia spent a lot of time (and taxpayers money) on ratifying the traty only to reject it in the end. What John Howard is trying to say (from my point of view) is that Australia is such a small polluter that there is no point in trying to reduce our emissions. Carbon trading sounds like a good idea but it may be a little harder in the real world.

The tollbox session was useful to me in providing information and an overall explanation on how the Kyoto Protocol actually works.

the almost non-productive day

This afternoon we did not do 'much' the internet was so slow that it took ages just to load a photo, so that just limited Brandon (Who is doing the multimedia presentation) to get pictures off the hard drive of the computer not the interntet. In the last period of the day. I attempted to help Brandon but gave up as the inernet was sooooo slow. I then halped Ye do the essay on the Kyoto Protocol.

Hooe the internet is faster tomorrow so we can be more productive.

cont presentation

Today in the morning we continued on our multimedia presentation. We needed some video for the presentation as the pictures were getting boring, but the videos would eat our internet credits so we have not gotten any (yet). The problem was that some pictures distort if projected on a projector.
